A deep knowledge of the classical world can lead you to see the influence of ancient Greece and Rome everywhere you go. Classical echoes are around us every day, from the structure of modern languages to the architectural form of the city of Detroit. Wayne State's Master of Arts in Classics offers courses in ancient studies and can help prepare you for a doctoral program or any number of careers, including law, medicine, archives and more.Students admitted to the program typically have an undergraduate degree in classics. However, we welcome students who wish to prepare for further graduate study or employment in classics or related fields. Previous graduates of our program hold a variety of high school and college-level teaching positions, have been admitted to prestigious Ph.D. programs or are employed in fields outside classics.
