German and Italian - BA (Hons)

Applicants are required to have ABB at A level, including a grade B in the advanced language they wish to study. For the International Baccalaureate (IB), candidates must achieve scores of 6, 5, and 5, totaling 32 points overall, with Higher Level or equivalent in the modern language planned for study. BTEC applicants should hold a BTEC Extended Diploma with DDM grades, plus a B at A level in the relevant subject(s). A total of three A levels is required. It is possible to study two beginner (including post-GCSE) languages without taking an advanced language. General Studies is accepted. Additional BTEC qualifications accepted include the Diploma (DD plus B at A level) and Subsidiary Diploma (D plus AB at A level) in the required subjects. For those not currently studying the required language at A level, applications may be considered if the candidate holds an independent language diploma at B2 level, such as DELF-B2 (French), DELE-B2 (Spanish), Goethe-Zertifikat-B2 (German), DILI-B2 (Italian), or TRKI 2nd Certificate (Russian). These diplomas align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and can be studied independently or through a language centre. Such diplomas will be considered in addition to three A levels or equivalent qualifications as outlined above.
