Indigenous Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study that centers the knowledges, priorities, aspirations and lived experiences of Indigenous peoples locally, nationally and internationally. The Indigenous Studies program provides students with a set of interdisciplinary tools to think rigorously about important issues confronting Indigenous communities in the present while examining intersections of colonialism, race, gender, and the historic and contemporary political, social and cultural engagements of Indigenous Peoples and Nations. A master's degree in Indigenous Studies prepares students with the theoretical and practical foundations for advanced graduate work and careers in diverse fields, including teaching, government, and community and non-governmental organizations.

To be eligible for graduate study at UB, we expect:
A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all.
A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions.
Appropriate standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc.). Not all programs require test scores.
Letters of recommendation.
