The Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate Program in Museum Studies is intended to prepare students who are currently enrolled in or have graduated from Master s or Doctoral degree programs to enter the museum professions. As an interdisciplinary program individuals from all fields including art anthropology art history biology history business education geology communication and public administration are encouraged to participate. The program will help prepare students for entry level positions in museum administration education collection management registration exhibition development curation and public programs.The Department of Art and Design located in the College of Communication and Fine Arts is a vibrant and diverse community of individuals who share a passion for art and design. The Department’s mission is to provide students with the skills knowledge and critical thinking abilities necessary to become successful artists designers and scholars in the field. The program values the evolution of art and design over time and place and encourages students to explore and experiment with different media techniques and styles.The Department of Art and Design is located in an urban environment that is rich in cultural history and offers students a unique opportunity to engage with the community and learn from local artists designers and scholars.
