BS in Secondary Education Biology

The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Biology Major provides a comprehensive foundation in biology content and teaching when combined with the professional course sequence for certification through the College of Education. You will study life sciences, genetics, evolution and general chemistry. Additional courses in education and methods for teaching will help you to understand how to bring the excitement of biology into the classroom. Certified teachers in Michigan with the Biology (DA) endorsement can teach Biology in 6-12th grade classrooms. By pursuing this program, you may seek advising, apply for scholarships, and participate in activities both in Biology, the home department for this major, and in the Department of Teacher Education, home of the professional teaching courses.
