This Secondary English with Media course leads to Qualified Teacher Status and to the academic PGCE qualification. You’ll learn all the skills you need to start teaching English and Media in secondary schools, with expert guidance from our tutor team and with strong school placements to give you the experience to develop your expertise. On this inclusive and engaging course, you will develop the skills and confidence to be able to facilitate learning, promote progress and make a real difference to the lives of the students you teach. You’ll learn to equip pupils with a strong command of the spoken and written word, and to promote high standards of language and literacy. You will also learn how to support pupils in understanding and developing a love of literature and reading for enjoyment. The course is designed to enable you to gain experience of the teaching of Media through English, and an understanding of how this differs from Media as a stand-alone subject. You will develop the ability to use a range of approaches to teaching Media in schools, gain practical experience of the Media classroom, which will enable you to nurture and encourage pupils’ creative and technical development.
