The MA in Theological Studies aims to enable students to develop their own approach or method of ‘doing’ theology. In their optional modules, students have an opportunity to study topics in various sub-disciplines of theology: systematic theology, Scripture, theological ethics/social justice, and the theology of worship.
The programme begins by investigating what doing theology entails. We prioritise the integration of commonly referred to sources of theology: Scripture, the historical construction of Christian belief (Tradition), the product of considered, rational and critical thought (Reason), which is evidenced in the lives of believers (Experience) and acknowledged by the witness of the Church as it preaches the gospel in its social and cultural context and makes disciples (Church/Community).
The capstone of the MA programme allows students to pursue a 15,000 word dissertation topic in theological studies that most interests them.
