Overview
Our Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain Management covers every stage of the supply chain, from raw material supply to resource recovery, as well as the many modes of transport. Developments in the last two decades have seen huge investments into technologies necessary to deliver reduced operating costs, shorter lead times and better value for customers. You will investigate and evaluate the range of current approaches and how this could change through the use of theoretical and industry sources.
You’ll explore strategic issues such as multi-channel retailing, supply chain collaboration and lead time compression in your Logistics and Supply Chain Management course sessions. You will also examine topics of global significance, such as disaster relief and sustainable distribution, giving you a solid understanding of the industry.
This course has an Industry Placement option.
Course Details
Our MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management aims to develop proactive managers who are confident in managing projects and business improvement of functional areas through effective leadership. It will allow you to follow a programme of management study containing a considerable element of specialism related to the supply chain of both local and multinational companies.
This course will also provide both pre-experience career preparation and post-experience career progression opportunities for students from any disciplinary background at first degree level, but with the aspiration to enter or progress more rapidly in careers in logistics management or business. It will build on your existing skills and capabilities to develop Masters level knowledge and skills in the business and logistics management field, enhancing your employability and future career prospects.
Accreditation
This course is externally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). Successful completion of the course will allow you admission as a member (MILT) or Chartered Member (CMILT) depending on your professional experience at the time of application.
What is Logistics and Supply Chain Management?
Supply chain management integrates the management of supply and demand within business. This encompasses planning for logistics management activities such as procurement, sourcing and conversion, as well as collaboration and coordination with channel partners.
Logistics management is a crucial part of supply chain management. It involves ensuring customer requirements are met by planning, implementing and controlling various factors between the point of origin and consumption, including storage of goods and services amongst other things. It is a complex discipline, with the minimisation of resource use being a common goal.
How will I be assessed?
Your progress will be assessed through a combination of coursework and written assessment including reports, portfolio, peer assessment and case studies.
