BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management is designed to develop your capabilities to work at a strategic level around attracting, developing and engaging the right people. With most contemporary organisations recognising that people are their most important asset, a career in Human Resources enables you to play a key role in organisational success. Northumbria University's Business and Human Resource Management course develops the key skills you need to understand and apply management research evidence and theory. Its key focus is on leading and managing organisations’ human resources ethically, responsibly and sustainably. You’ll study key concepts such as strategic resourcing, human resource development, employee relations, performance and reward, and employment law. At the same time, you’ll develop broader knowledge and understanding of the global business context. Our Business and Human Resource Management course prioritises building professional practice capabilities through problem-based and experiential learning. This approach will equip you with the skills and qualities sought by employers across the private, public and not-for-profit (NFP) sectors that underpin successful enterprise.At Newcastle Business School we’re committed to preparing you for your future career and helping you compete in the graduate labour market, applying your own learning to your own career planning. You’ll graduate with not only your degree, but Associate membership of the CIPD, which demonstrates both your academic and professional capabilities within the human resources field. Our BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management programme is designed to support you in developing the key competencies, skills and attitude that graduates need. Developing leadership, enterprise and employability capabilities is at the heart of all module learning experiences and assessment. We offer a number of additional opportunities to enhance your CV, develop your employability or enterprise skills, and increase commercial awareness. These include work placements, overseas travel and study, guest speakers and networking. We have links with the award-winning Human Resource Management student society, which provide additional guest lectures and networking opportunities, as well as mock interviews to improve your preparation for future roles. There are also volunteering programmes both within and outside the University, and for representing your programme at Programme or School level. Over the past five years, many of our students have successfully secured Human Resource Management positions in public and private organisations in roles for companies and organisations including PWC, Nissan, ITV and local authorities. Others have moved outside HRM to secure roles as management consultants and operations managers.
