The Juris Doctor/Master of Industrial Relations (JD/MIR) is a three-and-a-half-year combined degree program. In partnership with Queen’s Faculty of Law, the JD/MIR was established in response to strong demand from the law profession for graduates with expertise in employment and labour law. Now a Queen’s exclusive, the JD/MIR is the only dual degree of its kind in Canada, merging graduate training in human resources management, employment and labour policy with a professional degree in law.Being able to stand in both worlds, JD/MIR students graduate with a distinct advantage. By completing the MIR concurrent with a JD education, students not only expand their learning but are able to cross-apply credits that reduce their overall time of study and expense, realizing a savings of more than 9000 compared with completing the two degrees separately.The world of work is changing rapidly, making employment and labour law one of the most reactive areas of the law profession, but also one of the most satisfying.
