The M.A. program in Economics at McMaster owes its strength to the quality of its research faculty, opportunities for intensive training in theoretical and applied work, and a diverse offering of specializations. Our faculty members specialize in a wide range of topics, including experimental economics, health economics, international trade and international finance, labour economics, macroeconomics, monetary economics and public economics. A special feature of the M.A. program is that it offers students the chance to participate in real world experience through the optional coop program. Many students choose this option and have an opportunity to work 4 or 8 months after completing two semesters of academic work.

A unique one-year program providing graduate-level training in economics with an emphasis on building the skill set for empirical economic policy analysis and program evaluation.

Areas of Research

In addition to policy-orientated required courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics and the Economic Policy Analysis courses, students may also take some electives offered in the MA in Economics program.
