Doctorate in French Studies 4 year program, Three major fields of research which reflect the challenges of the development of French studies and the new realities of the labor market: archiving and electronic publishing the literature of the Ancien Regime and its theories cultural and literary studies of Francophonies (19th - 21st centuries)Studies of the Ancien Regime have always been in the spotlight at the Department of French Studies at the University of Waterloo. A group of internationally renowned researchers are interested in various fields of research ranging from the early Middle Ages to the end of the 18th century. These fields of study include, among others, the study and editing of texts by women writers, the archiving of travel accounts and letters, the development and impact of print on the constitution of literary institutions.
