Anatomy and histology is the study of the structure of living things. Your introduction to the area is through the study of cell structure (histology) and the basic tissue of mammalian biology and musculo-skeletal anatomy. In senior year we divide your studies into four disciplines. You will study topographical anatomy (bones, muscles, nerves, arteries, veins) neuroanatomy (anatomy and organisation of the nervous system) histology (microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues) and embryology (development of an embryo from fertilisation to foetus stage). Dissection plays a part.With a solid foundation in science plus a two-year master's degree, this degree will give you access to eminent dietitians and scientists at the cutting edge of dietetics, nutrition and medical research and practice. For those seeking a life sciences approach, this degree allows you to pursue postgraduate research in nutrition or diversify to include specialisations in both human and animal nutrition. You will be exposed to the latest advances in dietetics, the science of nutrition, and public health nutrition.The Bachelor of Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is a double degree that will provide you with solid knowledge of nutritional sciences and the expertise to pursue a career as a dietitian in a range of professional settings. You will complete degree core and junior elective units, an embedded Nutrition and Dietetics program including a major in Nutrition Science, and a minor or second major from either the disciplinary pool or the shared pool. Additionally, you will complete any elective units as needed to make up the required credit points for the course.After successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (minimum credit average), you will progress to the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics wherein you will complete a prescribed course of study comprising core units in nutrition and dietetics, a training placement and a research project.
