The Lamar University Bachelor of Science in Studio Art with a teaching certification, offered by the Studio Art Department in collaboration with the College of Education and Human Development, offers you hands-on experience and certification as a K-12 Texas Art Educator. If you are a talented artist and great with kids and enjoy inspiring others to meet their creativity, then you might enjoy a career as an art teacher. The Lamar University student chapter of the National Art Education Association is very active, traveling to meetings and exhibitions as well as sponsoring on campus workshops with nationally known artists.

If you are an international student who has never been enrolled at a post-secondary college or university, you must submit all required documents and show evidence of a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on all secondary school work. International undergraduate applicants must have an official report of course-by-course evaluated transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary work sent to Lamar University directly by the evaluating agency. Lamar University does not provide an internal evaluation service, and you do not need to send official transcripts to our office.
