Genetics and biotechnology is for students who are interested in the inner workings of organisms and cells. This concentration is also considered molecular biology and utilizes genetic and biochemical technologies to address basic science and applied science questions, many of which have a medical slant. Examples of applied science pursuits relevant to this area are the production of genetically engineered, medically relevant biology products, such as insulin, or diagnostic testing, such as PCR-based COVID or genetic disease testing.

Students must have official high school or university transcripts and it must be mailed directly from your high school or university to MTSU. For guaranteed admission, applicants must have completed the recommended college preparatory courses and must present one of the following: GPA 3.0 OR.Minimum composite ACT score of 22 OR minimum SAT total score of 1100 (Evidence Based Reading, Writing and Math).If you do not meet either of the above requirements you will need: Minimum 2.7 GPA plus ACT score of 19 OR SAT score of 990 (Evidence-Based Reading or Writing and Math).
