The four-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture program is a pre-professional education in architecture that blends liberal arts courses with eight semesters worth of studio sequence in architecture and urbanism. The sequence is supported by coursework in technology and theory. The pre-professional degree provides a foundation in the field of architecture as preparation for continued education in a professional degree program or employment in architecturally related areas. Qualified graduates from the program may apply for advanced standing in a first professional Master of Architecture degree program, such as the one offered by UIC's School of Architecture. Architecture at UIC provides students with the design skills, critical and creative thinking, and analytical abilities that enable them to follow a variety of career opportunities. While many graduates continue their architecture education in a professional Master of Architecture degree program, others pursue work or graduate study in fields such as law, graphic design, real estate management, urban design and planning, and business.
