Develop a deep foundation in visual language while learning to perceive and articulate what is seen more deeply and expressively. Lewis’ Department of Art & Design offers a fine arts approach to visual literacy. Through our core fine arts curriculum, you will explore theory and techniques from a wide range of styles – not only pursuing your current interests but opening up your mind to a whole new world of art, and discovering how the digital revolution is changing the marketability of the fine artist. Many students choose Lewis’ Drawing degree as a precursor to graduate school, often an MFA program. A drawing major is essentially a fine arts major. Drawing majors will increase their ability to perceive the visual world and learn to better articulate their self-expression. A drawing major will acquire a strong foundation in fine arts as well as a deeper understanding of the importance of visual language. This program will prepare students for graduate work.
