BA (Hons) Product Design with Integrated Foundation Year and Professional Practice Year is a five-year degree programme, including a foundation year to help develop your skills and creativity before you start the first year of the degree course and your fourth year would be an industry placement to further develop your skills and CV.Master through making, in workshops brimming with craft, curiosity, and experimentation.Product Design at UCA starts with your hands. This is a course where learning happens through making and materials – wood, metal, plastics, laser cutting, CNC, 3D printing, casting – and where you can move from concept to prototype in hours, not weeks.You’re hands-on, but you’ll also get to grips with critical theory and understanding. You'll tackle global design challenges aligned with UN Sustainability Goals, work with real clients, and tackle competition briefs that push you into challenging and unfamiliar territory. One student team swept every single prize in the Andersen EV competition, exhibited at London Design Week, turning coffee grounds into a bio-resin faceplate for EV chargers.By the time you graduate, you’ll have an inventor’s mindset and the technical skills to back it up and build your products. Your portfolio, experience, and conceptual thinking will set you apart when you hit the job market.
