On our specialist course, you’ll develop expert knowledge within Physical Education alongside the ability to teach across the whole primary curriculum. And you’ll graduate with recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status. Successful completion of the programme leads to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). If you have qualified teacher status (QTS), you’ll get a minimum starting salary of £32,916 (or more in London) as a primary or secondary school teacher in England, rising to £51,048 for more experienced teachers. Everyone needs a healthy lifestyle. The earlier we learn how to be fit and active, the easier it becomes to maintain these habits in adulthood. As a PE specialist, you’ll show children aged 5-11 how to be physically active in fun and engaging ways, and learn how to teach the national curriculum for all key stage 1 and 2 subjects. By spending significant time in placements in schools, you’ll become a confident practitioner who meets Teachers’ Standards. You’ll gain the essential skills, knowledge and attitude for a two-year induction as an early career teacher, teaching the entire primary curriculum. As this is a PGCE primary physical education specialist course, you’ll finish it as an expert in teaching this subject. You’ll inspire children to be physically fit and encourage your peers to deliver equally engaging lessons.
