The University of Bolton’s MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering aims to build on your undergraduate degree to equip you for a specialist role in research or product design and development. We offer specific pathways in embedded system design and renewable energy technology. Our expert tutors will support as you learn to critically apply your knowledge of engineering, science and emerging technologies to investigate and solve industrial and research-related problems. We’ll focus on helping you learn to use advanced software tools for modelling, simulation and design. Your studies will also further develop your analytical problem-solving, critical communication, presentation and transferable skills. Additionally, the course is designed to address all the competencies set out by the Engineering Council and UK-SPEC, and to support you to achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status when combined with a relevant undergraduate programme.

Normally, you should have at least a lower second class honours degree (2.2) in an engineering-related subject; for instance, BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BEng (Hons) Electronics and Computing, BEng (Hons) Systems Engineering or BSc (Hons) Physics. Your application will also be considered if you have alternative equivalent qualifications with extensive relevant work experience and can demonstrate specific competence in electrical and electronic engineering. We may invite you for an interview or request a portfolio of work. We welcome your application if you hold a degree awarded by an overseas institution. The University will assess the equivalence of your qualifications. If English isn’t your first language you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent). TOEFL with an overall score of 79 for Postgraduate including 17 in Listening, 20 in Writing, 18 in Reading and 18 in Speaking.
