This LLM aims to give you the ability to deliver sound academic and practical knowledge and ability to provide clients with top-level counsel. You will be introduced to the institutions, standards and case law which structure human rights law. There is a focus on key issues of human rights, such as socio-economic rights; rights of women; international child rights and the crimes of the powerful. You'll also debate the uses of universality and cultural relativism in relation to human rights.
Uniquely, you will have the opportunity to take up a number of internships at the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR), which is based in the School of Law. You will attend a range of other activities including the evening and lunchtime guest lectures. You will also benefit from London being the home to a large number of major human rights organisations.
