This is a **four year degree** taught at our Hope Park campus. The Foundation Year aims to develop your skills so that after a year, you will be equipped with the necessary skills needed for studying the full BA Hons degree programme. **Acting**Demand for individuals with knowledge and skills in the field of acting and performance is growing. This BA equips students with knowledge and understanding of history and practice of acting, and the skills to apply this knowledge to real-life settings across different disciplines.The course provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the core areas of acting (histories and contemporary practices) and the opportunity to apply theories, methods, and approaches from drama, theatre and performance. Students will gain a critical understanding of acting plays a key role in local, national, and global contexts. They will also be supported to develop knowledge and awareness of contemporary issues in acting and the performing arts. Situated within the School of Creative and Performing Arts, and taught by professors and lecturers from across the school, the course provides an intellectually stimulating environment in which students will acquire skills of critical thinking, independent learning and acting techniques. The transferable skills developed through the course will be relevant to a range of careers including teaching, mentoring, educational settings, and as well as equipping students for acting for the stage and screen.**Sociology**Contemporary society is becoming ever more complex, dynamic and challenging, and the need to understand it increasingly important. The Sociology degree at Liverpool Hope University will help you to think critically and constructively about the key questions relating to modern society, exploring crucial topics such as: how is society organised, where does power lie, and who are the winners and losers? What are the key challenges associated with class, poverty, gender, sexuality, race, disability, religion, and climate change in the 21st century, and how do we address these? What is the future of work, and how will this impact society? How do we make sense of society? And how do we generate knowledge that might help us to improve the world in which we live? In line with Liverpool Hope University’s commitment to social justice, Sociology will help you to understand and critique the ‘common-sense’ assumptions about the world we inhabit. You will examine a wide range of key issues that characterise and confront the modern world, both nationally and globally, and will study the theories and methods that help to explain and understand them.
