Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington is an international leader in the field of building science. Our Bachelor of Building Science (BBSc) is the country’s leading programme devoted to the science of buildings. The quality of our buildings is vital to our economy, environment, health, and lifestyles. Explore the process and business of building great structures. Learn about construction methods, materials, and systems-along with project management and contractor relations. Use that knowledge to help create a more sustainable world.
In the BBSc, you’ll study the theory and practice of building construction and sustainability. While considering architectural design issues, you’ll develop the knowledge to promote the construction of durable, economic, and healthy buildings.
The BBSc has five majors, with each major focusing on a different area:
Building Surveying
Built and Natural Heritage Conservation
Project Management
Smart Cities and Digital Built Environments
Sustainable Engineering Systems.
If you want to broaden your studies, you can take more than one major-or one major and two minors.
At the end of three years of study, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to begin a satisfying career in the building industry-or to continue your study at postgraduate level. Along with an understanding of architecture, you’ll graduate with expertise in the human factors, science, and technology of building.
