The Graduate Diploma in Cancer and Haematology Nursing aims to assist nurses who care for people affected by cancer and haematological illness to develop their knowledge and skills for their care. Students will investigate the biology of cancer and haematology and associated treatments.Designed for registered nurses, this degree will develop your knowledge about all aspects of the prevention, diagnosis and management of cancer and haematological illnesses, future treatment trends and the impact of these illnesses on the individual and family.You'll learn from highly respected nursing practitioners and researchers. Many of our staff work in frontline healthcare services, making a real difference to the healthcare landscape in Australia and internationally.Clinical experienceWe produce graduates who have the critical thinking skills and nursing knowledge to provide the best care for people, wherever they are. Our graduates engage with and contribute to important decisions about trends in treatment, patient care and disease prevention.Our students gain practical, hands-on experience in dedicated clinical simulation facilities on the Westmead Campus and in the Susan Wakil Health Building on the Camperdown Campus.

A successful applicant for admission to this course will hold:

a Bachelor of Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Medicine or Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney or equivalent institution;

Or an equivalent qualification that is recognised by the Australian Dental Board (Limited Registration for postgraduate training/supervised practice) and with a curriculum acceptable to the school.

Experience and registration

In addition to these criteria, admission to this course requires:

at least two years general dental practice; completion of the primary Fellowship Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons or its equivalent is desirable

all applicants must be registered with the Australian Dental Board for practice (limited registration for international candidates) prior to admission to the program.
