This pathway allows you to study the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (0.5 Years) and the Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Food) (1 Year). The Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques will give you the skills and confidence to work safely in a laboratory environment. During this course, you'll prepare and analyse a range of chemical and biological samples and perform chemical and biological experiments. You'll also gain an understanding of work, health and safety (WHS) procedures including infection control. Gain technical skills and practical experience with the Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Food) at TAFE NSW. Learn to process and interpret data, use laboratory application software and monitor the quality of test results and data. Gain the skills to maintain instruments and equipment and apply quality system and continuous improvement processes. Gain experience monitoring the implementation of food safety and quality programs. You'll also learn to perform chemical tests and procedures, food tests, food analyses and sensory analysis.
