Financial Economics is focused on the economic models used in finance, and the econometric skills needed to apply these models to financial markets and other economic data. Through this major you will gain high-level training to understand both how financial markets work and how to analyse financial data.This is an area of high employer demand which spans a range of diverse fields. As a graduate you will have excellent employment prospects in the financial sector or in a financial regulatory agency like the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).The Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science is an undergraduate coursework degree that provides you with a background in both the humanities and the sciences. You will study core and core selective liberal studies units in topics including academic writing, critical thinking and ethics. You will choose a major from either the Arts or Science disciplinary pools, and complete additional units from the other faculty to support your studies. You will also complete elective units from the disciplinary pools, the shared pool or the Open Learning Environment as needed to meet the requirements of the course.
