Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) was instituted in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts & Sciences in Utica to help train and educate veterans returning from World War II. Over the course of three-quarters of a century, MVCC has evolved to become New York State’s first community college and the primary provider of college education and non-credit training in the region. MVCC’s proud tradition of technical and trade education has it ideally placed for the growth in demand for degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math, leading to great careers in these areas. Enduring partnerships with other colleges in the state allow students to easily transfer to four-year institutions. MVCC’s campuses organize over 150 community events through the year, thereby providing an array of opportunities that enhance students' experiences on campus.
