Avalon School was established in 1907 with eight pupils. The school moved into larger premises in 1925 and in the 1990s turned completely co-educational. Avalon School draws on its heritage whilst welcoming every opportunity for development. Classes throughout Avalon School are small but with a purposeful atmosphere. The school’s curriculum is designed to provide students a thorough grounding in English and mathematics, while also placing emphasis on science, art, technology, music, geography, history, PE, ICT and Spanish. Teaching at Avalon School is supported by a range of resources including well-equipped specialist rooms for science, art and ICT. Pupils have the opportunity in sports to develop their leadership and teamwork skills. There is also a strong tradition of both music and drama at Avalon. These activities aim to keep students happily challenged in all aspects of school life at Avalon.
