Undergraduate or graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo who are participating in a recognized institutional Croatian language or cultural studies program abroad, an exchange, or an approved co-op position at a business located in Croatia.
Selection will be based on a one-page statement describing their intended Croatian experience and why they hope to receive this funding.
Interested students must complete the applicable international experience award application found on the SAFA or GSPA website.
Applications will be considered twice annually. Students may apply by March 15 or November 15 for travel taking place between May 1 of that year and April 30 of the following year.
The awards will be adjudicated jointly between SAFA/GSPA and a designated representative of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies based on the application and statement of intent.
As part of the selection, the Department will confirm the student’s registration and/or acceptance in the program/co-op position before funds will be processed.
The Department will notify the award winners and encourage them to submit a one-page report one month after their return from Croatia.
