The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a major in Civil Engineering is designed to provide students with an education that addresses the emerging field of technology-enhanced (Smart) infrastructure, as well as fundamental concepts in environmental, geotechnical, materials, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. In addition to being capable of designing a range of infrastructure assets, graduates will have experience with sensor devices, data transmission and storage systems, big data and machine learning protocols, predicative modeling, and automated infrastructure management technologies. Further, students will be prepared to take the Fundamentals of Engineering and, later in their professional career, Principles and Practice of Engineering exams. The B.S. major in Civil engineering will seek accreditation in accordance with the process specified by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
