The Youth and Justice Strand of the Centre for Criminal Justice Research and Partnerships is focused on issues facing young people involved in offending, and more broadly on issues around children and young people’s inclusion, their participation in decision-making and their experiences in communities. The MPhil is between a taught or research masters and a PhD. You will investigate and evaluate an approved topic. You'll also prove an understanding of research methods appropriate to your chosen field. An MPhil is awarded on successful completion of a programme of supervised research. It is assessed via a thesis and a viva voce (oral examination). Throughout your MPhil journey, you will be supported by a programme of research training. This will enable you to develop transferable skills for your future career path. We offer alternative start dates for your research degree, commencing in September, January and March for maximum flexibility.
