This course offers a broad training in a variety of IT disciplines and is designed to prepare you for a range of computing positions.If you have strong problem-solving skills and a mind for critical thinking, then this course could be for you. Discover all areas of computing and define your practice as you go forward.**Why study this subject?**This foundation course will give you a good understanding of the various disciplines of IT and computing. Our computing lecturers have in-depth experience working in their respective fields and course material is based on their commercial experience and research activities.Our Computing FDSc is built on a number of professional certification programmes including Microsoft, HP and Cisco, which give graduates with an advantage when entering the jobs market.**What will I study?**From business modelling and programming concepts to open source systems and database design, the Computing foundation course at BNU offers a broad understanding of computer and IT disciplines. Graduates will develop skills in all aspects of computing and acquire a variety of transferable skills for the workplace.This course provides graduates with a strong footing for a career in the IT industry and a great taste of all areas of computing. On completion of the course, graduates have the opportunity to develop their expertise in specialist areas through a conversion course for an honours degree.**How will I be taught and assessed?**You’ll discover and master IT applications and programming basics as well as networks and web development. We carry out regular and varied assessment tasks, often directly related to industry-relevant problems and during the second year you’ll take on a work-related project. This is an opportunity for students to seek live briefs from clients such as charities, local organisations or within other departments of the University.
