This degree has been designed for students who want to explore unique perspectives on the world. PHILOSOPHY gives you the ability to question the world in a critical manner which is a vital skill which many of today's leading employers are looking for. COMMUNICATION & SOCIETY will introduce you to interesting new forms of politics and economics and how these are fundamental in terms of understanding different forms of communication. You'll also consider the way that our personalities, societies and technologies are always undergoing transformations. Philosophy at NTU aims to develop your powers of argument, critical thinking and conceptual analysis through the search for answers to ultimate questions. This course differs from the typical philosophy courses on offer at most other universities as it is not a course in the history of ideas. The course is organised around some of the philosophical problems faced by today's decision-makers in their professional lives. In general, this course examines the interface between philosophical ideas and everyday life, and has been designed in order to help you think more clearly and more critically about the world in which you live. NTU’s Communication & Society course will allow you to examine the rapidly changing transformations in society, people and technologies. Therefore, it's important that you understand the different forms of social communication that take place between individuals, organisations, humanity and nature. This course explores the way that communication takes shape through the evolving use of the media. The course uses an equal amount of theoretical and practical aspects of communication including non-verbal and unconscious communication. Both subjects will teach you through a variation of lectures, tutorials and workshops and you'll partake in discussions and group work. You'll be provided with a breadth of vital skills which many of today's leading employers are searching for in undergraduates. This course will teach you how to question the world and search for answers, as well as develop your powers of argument, critical thinking and conceptual analysis. You'll also gain skills such as, creativity, critical reasoning, project management and be able to analyse a range of media texts, audiences and institutions. The degree will equip you with vital expertise such as, critical reasoning, creativity and project management. 93% of our Communication & Society and our Philosophy joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2016/17).
