Program Overview
Our programs offer you the opportunity to study health, physical activity, and sport from a range of perspectives. Students may study the physiological responses to exercise; health promotion; the mechanics of movement; the psychology of sport; the effects of biological factors on health; the effects of socio-cultural factors on health; and epidemiological study of population health.
Educational Experience
Our Master (MSc) program provide intellectual challenge, stimulating research collaboration, in-house Graduate Seminar Series, Annual Research Day highlighting current student presenters, and opportunities to serve on School committees.
M.Sc. (Kinesiology and Health Studies) - 2 years in the areas of expertise of Biomechanics, Ergonomics, Exercise and Physiology; Physical Activity Epidemiology, Health Promotion, and the Psychology of Sport.
Opportunities
Our students have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally-recognized researchers on exciting, multi-disciplinary research projects in state-of-the-art facilities.
Research Collaborations
Cross-disciplinary opportunities with other Queen’s departments enhance the graduate experience. Collaborations are available with Mechanical and Material Engineering, Cultural Studies, Global Development Studies, Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, Faculty of Education, Gender Studies, and Sociology. Students may pursue some research activities at Kingston General or Hotel Dieu Hospital.
Careers
Graduates from our program enjoy employment in various settings including: academia, public health policy, workplace ergonomics consulting, medicine, community health agencies, sports media public relations, research positions in health care facilities, epidemiologist, and kinesiologist.

Student must have Bachelor’s degree with a minimum B+ (77%) average in the last 20 one-term courses.
English language requirements
Applicants must have TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT): The minimum overall score is 88, made up of the minimum scores in each component test as follows: Writing test: 24/30; Speaking test: 22/30; Reading test: 22/30; Listening test: 20/30; MELAB: 80 (minimum overall score); IELTS: 7 (minimum score, academic module); PTE Academic: 65 (minimum overall score).
