This pathway provides preparation and the foundation necessary for future academic success in various science and engineering-related fields. It is specifically designed for individuals interested in pursuing science and engineering programs at Ontario Tech University (Ontario Tech). Students have opportunities to refine their science, mathematics, and communications competencies. Some General Arts and Science courses are also transferable to other post-secondary programs.
This program is two semesters in length and is designed to reinforce key academic skills while providing a broad range of post-secondary courses designed to specifically support future academic and career goals. Students in this pathway are required to complete 13 courses over two semesters. These include Preparing for Academic Success (one), Communications (two), Computers (one), Chemistry (two), Biology (two), Physics (two), and Math courses (three).
Graduates of the General Arts and Science program may qualify for admission to and/or advanced standing to pursue additional college or university studies.
PLEASE NOTE:
- It is each student’s responsibility to ensure that the courses they register in are appropriate for the stated admission requirements for future program choices.
- Successful completion of the GASZ certificate does not guarantee admission into Ontario Tech or other post-secondary programs.
- Each educational institution determines its own admission requirements. If you plan to attend any university other than Ontario Tech or plan to continue your studies at another college, please ensure that courses taken meet that institution’s admission requirements.
- The student advisor offers individual academic planning assistance; students are strongly encouraged to meet with their advisor before selecting their courses.
