Nội dung bạn sẽ được học

Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Healthcare Management degree program gives you a comprehensive grounding in both general business knowledge and specialized skills in health-care management.

Our program starts with a foundation of business studies in areas such as organizational behaviour, law, economics, finance and accounting, marketing, and operations management. Specialization courses will focus on the Canadian health-care system and the knowledge required to effectively respond to today’s complex healthcare environment.

The program will be of interest to students who wish to begin a progressive administrative or management position in the health sector or who are interested in analytical jobs in health policy. Our program features project work that is linked to industry, professional work experience and project work that links applied and academic fields.

Work Placement

The program requires that you complete 14 weeks/420 hours of paid work in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the hands-on, real-world experience that employers value. Your placement will give you the opportunity to explore the field you’d like to work in when you graduate. We will work with employers and our industry partners to help you identify opportunities to pursue.

Career

According to the Conference Board of Canada, the health-care sector, consisting of health-care organizations; health education and research; health and life sciences industries (including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, medical informatics); and government employs many thousands of people in Ontario. It is a major factor in the productivity and the growth and strength of the economy. In Ontario, for example, approximately 40 per cent of total program spending by the provincial government will be devoted to health and long-term care according to the 2018 Ontario Budget plan for fiscal year 2018-19.

Graduates of our program may expect employment prospects for work within a variety of settings. Opportunities can be found in hospitals, medical offices, community care organizations, public health, health-care consulting firms, professional services firms, professional associations, think tanks and government. Graduates of the program will be well-positioned to respond to the needs of the sector with strong academic and applied knowledge in the principles of business and their application to the unique issues and demands of the health sector. While the majority of jobs are in operations, graduates will also be prepared to work in analytical jobs in the areas of consulting and health policy, as well as business development and advocacy.
