Starting out as the Film and Television School and then named the Australian Film Television School (AFTS), the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) was finally named as such in 1986. The school relocated in 2008 to its current home – a state-of-the-art facility in Moore Park. AFTRS receives funding from the Federal Government to support the Australian media industry, and values its close connection to industry, which ensures that the school continues to offer courses that are industry-relevant. Disciplines taught at AFTRS cover the entire filmmaking spectrum, from cinematography, editing and producing to directing, screenwriting and sound. AFTRS consults with industry and applies the learnings from to its curriculum. The school also works with industry to provide rewarding and enriching internships and placements for students. The AFTRS campus is located amidst the lively screen and production studios, close to Sydney’s CBD.
